Leaving Pucon we headed back towards Argentina. The landscape we drove through was quite dramatic with mountains, volcanoes and large tracts of forest lining the road. Near the border we came across a forest made up of large monkey puzzle trees; I’ve never seen these trees in the wild before.
This is Billy, our driver
A slow reveal for Famoo, that’s Chris in the background
The view from where we parked at the Chilean border post
Leaving Chile was a problem, the border official we had was having a grumpy day and this meant Billy and Minette were given quite the run around with their paperwork. In the end we left for the Argentina border only to find out we had to go back to the Chilean post to get our insurance papers sorted out. The back and forth was painful and we wasted a couple of hours because one guy wanted to be officious, just as well we are all easy going.
Interesting clouds seen while we drove

Once this was all finally sorted out we continued on to the lakeside city of Baraloche. Some of the views across the lake to the city with the mountains in the background were fantastic but I had lost the desire to take photographs so you’ll have to take my word for it.
We were staying at another campsite; for this section of the journey we were mostly camping. The campsite was very nice, even if most of the good tent sites had been taken by the time we arrived. We had a BBQ for dinner and the tender steak made the bad memories of the day fade away.
