One calendar month

It’s a month until our last day of work…there is so much to do! At least most of it is just packing, the holiday/sabbatical/trip is mostly taken care of now. In the meantime we get up to other things as well as preparation for the future. We’ve seen movies, attended farewells at work, worked, and […]

And on the weekend

As part of the ongoing preparation for our trip starting in late September we have purchased new tramping boots. On Sunday we went for a walk to help break them in. The walk took us from Brentwood, up to South Weald, through the Weald Country park and then back down Ongar Road into Brentwood. It […]

Fours years later

Last night we did manage to see Robin Hobb and have her sign her latest book ‘Shaman’s Crossing’ (which for the record I am underwhelmed by). Robin was friendly enough though not as chatty as Terry Brooks earlier in the day. Robin Hobb at Forbidden Planet We were third in line so were out quite […]

…and today in London town

I’ve had a busy day today. This morning Angela Palmer left the company after 7 years and I have been busy taking photos of various work people for the last week. Simon had an idea to fill an A3 presentation portfolio with peoples photos and each person also signed their best wishes to Angela. I […]

Never saw a Donkey

Patricia and Sam visited Friday night and Saturday after seeing ‘The Cat Empire’ play at the Shepherds Bush Empire on Thursday night. We went out for dinner in Brentwood on Friday night and Saturday was spent consuming pancakes for breakfast before we headed out on a short walk taking in the Brentwood post office (birth […]

More

More explosions have gone off today in London. It looks like these were lesser explosives. Anyway, we’re fine…just sitting at work reading about what is going on.

Remember but also look forward

Today as a showing of solidarity, remembrance and defiance people were urged to take part in two minutes of silence at 12pm. People were asked to go out to the streets for the moment. All the London buses stopped at 2pm as well. Here is a photo of London Wall taken at 12.01pm. Two minutes […]

It’s quiet at work

So I’ll do something else for a while. Here are more photos from our trip down to the New Forest and Corfe Castle. Taken on a rainy morning. I stopped the car and took a few photos of this horse which was happily eating while the rain fell. A semi tame herd of deer makes […]

What is going on?

Short answer is we don’t know. There are confirmed reports of explosions on three buses and a number of tube explosions as well. Talk is of bombs but there isn’t anything confirmed that we’ve seen. We’re safe at work and will be here for a while yet by the looks, it’s work as normal though […]

London tube problems

Just in case the media blows things out of proportion and anyone worries, we’re OK. There has been a power surge on the London underground resulting in a number of explosions. We don’t catch the tube and were at work when this happened (well, Keryn was just leaving Liverpool Street).

Filming in London today…

A new Woody Allen movie staring Mr Allen and Scarlett Johansson. The filming was taken in front of the Citypoint Tower just down from work so I took a late lunch and wandered past to have a look. It was all very low key, no security to speak of and just a few people ushering […]

Coldplay

On Monday night we attended the biggest concert we’ve ever been to in the UK, or anywhere for that matter. We had a half day and travelled in the early afternoon to Crystal Palace to see Coldplay perform at the Crystal Palace athletics stadium. After a long lunch at a greasy cafe (only made long […]
