Just in case the media blows things out of proportion and anyone worries, we’re OK. There has been a power surge on the London underground resulting in a number of explosions. We don’t catch the tube and were at work when this happened (well, Keryn was just leaving Liverpool Street).
Filming in London today…
A new Woody Allen movie staring Mr Allen and Scarlett Johansson. The filming was taken in front of the Citypoint Tower just down from work so I took a late lunch and wandered past to have a look. It was all very low key, no security to speak of and just a few people ushering […]
A birthday in Hyde Park amongst other things
Fawzia turned 30 yesterday We are in the middle of a heat wave in England at the moment. Temperatures are over 30C and it is very humid. Yesterday we were in Hyde Park for an afternoon picnic celebrating Fawzia’s 30th birthday and I’m fairly sure that a good proportion of London turned out as well […]
Not grown up yet
It’s been a busy week. On Tuesday I took part in what would have been called a working bee in NZ. A month or so back there was an advertisement on the company Intranet for volunteers to help out with clearing an area at a school with a view to building a new garden area. […]
Is Summer actually coming?
Yesterday I played Cricket for the LST team again. The last time I played was when I dislocated my finger and it was at the same ground in Herne Hill against the same team. I’m happy to report that I sustained no injuries other than a few small bruises this time. I also managed to […]
May Day 2005
We had the first of two bank holidays in May yesterday. It was nice to have a longer weekend and the weather wasn’t to bad for most of it either. On Sunday we had an afternoon of wandering around the Docklands area and then spent the later afternoon at a pub called the Dickens Inn […]
Another early morning

The alternate view
Just quickly here is another shot from this morning that has been modified to make it more interesting. It now looks more like a graphic art piece I think. The Millennium Bridge
Something new
This week I took delivery of a new camera and lens. I am now the proud owner of a Canon EOS 350D digital SLR and a Canon 17-40 f4 USM L lens. The primary reason for buying the camera is an effort to save some money when it comes to our trip to Africa later […]
Catching up on the recent past
I know I promise these things and never do them but times are a changing. I’ve updated all the galleries on this site (i.e. London Snow, Hemel Hempstead, Jim’s Wedding and Our Wedding) to the new style and have added two more of our past trips: Prague Venice
The sunset heralds the coming of spring
After a few weeks of snowy weather we’re now coming into an ever-so-slightly warmer patch which probably means rain I guess. March is also the month were we see a lot of live bands, currently lined up as Missy Higgins supporting Ray LaMontagne, Rilo Kiley, The Finn Brothers and Garbage all followed by Dead Can […]
Snow dominates the headlines
At least on this blog snow is big news. This morning we have had the heaviest snow so far in London this year. Compared to the snowfall in Kent over the last week the snow we had this morning is next to nothing but it has settled somewhat and everything has that white look to […]
