October 24th – Day Thirty
Truth be told there isn’t a lot to write about today. Most of our day was spent resting by the pool. The only worthwhile event that took place was the white water rafting undertaken by Rachel, Dave, Will and Maria. When they got back in the evening we watched a video of their day and it looked like a lot of fun with their raft being turned over a number of times, often in hilarious fashion. They all came back a little bruised and tired but very happy with their day. The only injury sustained on the day happened to a poor woman who dislocated and broke her ankle but it wasn’t even down in the water or on a rapid. As the rafts approach the water the guide will tell the rafters to get into position by hunching down in their raft. Unfortunately someone put their knee down on the woman’s ankle and the force of the blow turned her ankle so she had to be flown out of the canyon. This delay and a flat tyre meant the guys were a few hours late back at camp so we were all a little bit worried that something had happened to them so it was a relief to see them all well. Our day at the pool or on the Internet was nice and relaxing, it’s good to take a break every now and again. relaxation, writing, white water rafting.
