Morning in the hide

Tuesday morning I went down to the Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve to see what was visible from the bird watching hides. Spring is very much in the air with a mixture of territorial aggression and procreation visible in the behaviour of the bird life.

It’s that time of year again for the pied stilts.

“And don’t come back!”, this particular canada goose wasn’t welcome

I wandered to a few different hides and viewing points over the ponds and saw lots of interesting birds, it was nice to be walking in the cool air of morning while still getting warmth from the bright sun.

I’ll have to go back in a few weeks and see if the place is full of new families.
