Last week we had a rare night out thanks to a recent reciprocal babysitting arrangement implemented within our antenatal group. While Alayna was looked after at home we headed into Wellington and enjoyed the Gardens Magic concert featuring folky/Americana outfit Eb & Sparrow. We’d just arrived at the botanical gardens and were approaching the sound shell looking for somewhere to sit and who should Keryn spot but Pauline so we sat down with her to enjoy the music and eat some dinner.
Keryn and Pauline spent most of the time chatting so I was soon up and about taking a few photos of the band. It was a warm and still night so the smoke on the stage was hanging around giving the lighting volume and depth so the colours were at times wonderful. The large crowd was happy and there were plenty up dancing by the stage and the band seemed to be having a great time adding to the warm buzz.
After eating and before the concert finished Keryn and I packed up and started wandering around the gardens admiring the multicoloured lighting and installations. I was also keen to try get a few photos for a photo competition being run by Dilmah Tea with a theme of tea in an urban environment. We had bought a tea pot and a couple of cups with us so Keryn got to rest in a few seats while I took photos.
The gardens were soon full of people and it was getting late so we headed back home to see how things had gone – we’d not had any calls or texts so figured everything was OK. Alayna was asleep, apparently she had woken a few times but had settled fairly well each time (once she got over the “who are you?” shock the first time). Keryn will be babysitting later this week, and on it continues so we all get nights out each month.
