The last stop on our weeks holiday was at Jerusalem on the Whanganui River. We stayed for only one night and had a relaxing time playing cards, lazing outside and watching some of the local wildlife. In the evening we joined Sue and Margaret Mary for a short drive to a pine forest where we collected pine needles to be later spread around the Sisters vegetable garden. We also took the short walk to see the grave of James K. Baxter, celebrated New Zealand poet.

It had been a hot and clear day and I decided to try get a few star trail photos over the church. The stars were stunning in a beautifully clear night sky but unfortunately I got my settings wrong and the photos didn’t come out too well. I probably woke everyone up with my reminder alarm to collect the camera just after midnight as well.

The next morning Travis and Sophie left early to give themselves another chance at the Ruapehu summit. It was cool and misty so I went for a walk along the river road, leaving it a little late as the mist burnt off as I walked along the road. Next time we’re at Jerusalem I’ll have to be more organised.

As I was working in the evening we left mid morning. We arrived home to welcoming cats and it felt strange to be heading to work later on, a sign I think of a good holiday.
