Spring is in the air, there is lots or rain and wind about. Photography has taken a back seat recently, coinciding with one of my lenses being sent up to Auckland for repair after the auto focus motor failed. It was an expensive fix, but much cheaper than buying a new lens.

Naturally, back seat photography still results in some photos. We have a few taken while my parents stayed with us for a few days, we visited Eastbourne, Makara Beach, the Botanic Gardens and a few other places.

Waiting for the Cable Car to arrive.

In a break in the weather I took some sunset shots down at the Plimmerton beach, here’s a moody shot looking between Mana Island and the Onehunga Bay peninsular towards the South Island.

The evening comes in.

More proof of spring can be found in the Kowhai trees flowering all over Wellington. This particular flower was found at Zealandia.

I’ve been waiting for my lens to come back to help get a decent shot of the tuis visiting the big Kowhai we have at home and the lens arrived earlier this week. However, the weather isn’t co-operating and the flowers appear to be dying off already. I’ll make do with a couple of kaka from Zealandia instead.

Lunch time.

The photography should be back now, it’s Canon Photo5 time again and I need to get 5 photos imagined, shot and uploaded before we head off on holiday with Keryn’s parents in October. This year we have confetti, bubblegum, incense, a water dropper and a mysterious sound as inspiration and I’m hoping to enter all five categories this year. I also need to enter the NZ Geographic photo competition by next week and the Wanderlust photo competition before the holiday (I just have to choose photos that I’ve already taken, not that that makes it much easier). Spring is obviously a time for photos.
