Moved

We have moved to Camborne. The owners of our previous place decided to sell as they were themselves moving away from Wellington, so we decided that rather than wait for a new owner who might want to rent the place we would look to move. We quite like the idea of living on the Kapiti Coast (and possibly building out that way in the future) so investigated rental properties in Whitby, Plimmerton and Camborne. We also looked in the Hutt Valley, near Eastbourne and around Johnsonville. In the end it was the hilltop property in Camborne that we went for; its a little bigger than the Epuni place, the views are great from the living room, it felt good and it has a double garage and off street parking.

We used a moving company to transport our stuff and used a recommendation from Thomas, choosing A Active Removals. They were good. They arrived a little late but let us know in good time that this would be the case. The move itself went smoothly with no problems (they did have to ring for a 2nd truck but the extra cost more than offset the much higher cost of one truck making two journeys from Epuni to Camborne). We’re still unpacking boxes but worst is over.

So, to the view. As said we’re near the top of the Camborne hill and we have views to the south west over the Pauatahanui section of Porirua Harbour to the hills beyond. From the deck we get an ever changing vista of light across the landscape and its great. These are a few photos taken from the deck:

There are also new places to explore. At the eastern end of the harbour there is a Doc managed Pauatahanui Wildlife Management Reserve, an area of tidal wetland which is crossed by a number of paths. I went for a walk one lovely evening last week and took a few shots:

I think there will be plenty more walks in the reserve and other nearby places like Battle Hill and Titahi Bay. In the meantime its my week off and I visited Zealandia yesterday as the morning was nice and I wanted to see the recently discovered baby tuatara. No luck with the tuatara but I did get some nice tui shots.

Lastly, I have recently bought a new domain I’ve been tracking for years. 2kiwis.com is now owned by me, and at some point will become the default address for this website.
